Rebecca Marodi, a Cal Fire captain who helped battle the recent Los Angeles Fires, was found f@t@lly st@bb3d in her home. Her wife of 2 years, Yolanda Olenjniczak, has been identified as the lead suspect by the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office. Her whereabouts are currently unknown. Police were called to Marodi’s home in Ramona, California around 9pm on Monday 17th February, according to CBS San Diego. She had been stabbed several times and was pronounced d3@d at the scene by paramedics. Detectives are investigating possible motives for the unaliving, however, it has been revealed that Olenjniczak has acriminal history. She reportedly pled guilty to voluntary mansl@ught3r in 2003 in connection with the st@bb1ng d3@tH of her husband Jim Olejniczak in October 2000. Records from the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation indicate she served 13 years and 8 months in prison. Detectives are investigating potential motivations for Marodi’s unaliving. Marodi had dedicated over 30 years to firefighting and was planning to retire on her 50th birthday this June. She worked as a full-time firefighter at the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (Cal Fire), where she was promoted to captain in 2022. Most recently, she helped fight the Eaton Fire, one of the wildfires that ravaged the greater Los Angeles area. Cal Fire paid tribute to her, expressing their deep sadness and remembering her for her contributions and her kind and caring personality.
